Digital UK ID card

The CU Key application is now complemented by a new module that allows you to have your university card directly on your mobile phone. Students, staff and other authorised users can thus complete their plastic card with its digital version.

The card contains up-to-date data obtained from university systems. In addition, the user always has it handy on their phone, so they do not have to worry about forgetting or leaving the plastic card at home.

The digital version of the card can also be used to easily and securely verify the identity or authorization of the user in other university systems and services.

Security is also emphasised. The card works even without an internet connection, while the validity of the displayed data is time-controlled to maintain its topicality and security.

The new functionality is part of the CU Key application, which allows users to have their university card always available on their phone, in addition to secure login.

The solution is intended primarily for students and employees of Charles University as well as holders of selected licensed cards such as ISIC, ITIC or ALIVE.

Integration of third-party TOTP apps

Newly, the CU Key app allows direct connection to TOTP (Time-based one-time password) third-party apps such as Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, etc. After successfully logging into the CU Key app, press the "Additional codes" button and press "Add". Your mobile phone will ask you for permission to use the camera and you can then scan the QR code of your chosen authentication app and add it to the CU Key.
