A two-factor authentication will be required to log in to selected university services. We recommend activating it as soon as possible to avoid any complications when logging in.
Recommended procedure
Activate multi-factor authentication as soon as possible. Early activation will give you the opportunity to try and set everything.
Choose the method that best suits you (mobile app, SMS) and which you will normally have at your disposal when logging in.
Set up a backup access option. Make sure that you have an alternative authentication method available in case of device loss or replacement.
The measure is being implemented in accordance with Charles University's cybersecurity procedures and related security rules. It aims to reduce the risk of account misuse and to strengthen the protection of university services and data.
What changes
To log in, it will no longer be enough just to have a username and password – the identity will have to be verified by the next step, usually in a mobile application.
Install the application
The recommended option is the CU Key application. You can also use another supported authentication application.
Activate MFA in CAS on time
We recommend setting up multi-factor authentication well in advance and verifying that the login is running smoothly and working correctly.
Save backup codes
Save emergency codes from the CU Key application in case of loss, replacement or unavailability of your phone.
Please select from the following options
(Combination of CU Key and Text message code is recommended)
Why it is being implemented
MFA significantly reduces the risk of account misuse in case someone obtains your password.
What to do now
Set up the second factor, try logging in, save backup codes.
