Text message code

Two-factor authentication via text message code is simple, reliable means of increasing the security your CAS user account.

It is designed to be easy for all users without the need to install further mobile apps.

It keeps your account secure against unauthorized access – even if your password is compromised.

Text messages code is one of the two-factor authentication methods. We highly recommend it as a secondary for use in addition to the CU Key mobile app.

This two-factor authentication method uses a mobile phone number from the WhoIs system if you are an employee.

If you do not have a mobile phone number on the website www.ldap.cuni.cz/mfa or you wish to change the one uploaded automatically, please follow the Activation procedure below.

Activation procedure

  1. Visit website www.ldap.cuni.cz/mfa and login to CAS.

  2. Select "SMS message" from the available options:

  3. Type in the mobile phone number which you wish to use and click on "Verify phone number"

  4. You will receive text message containing a code, which you must enter in the box next to your phone number, and click on “Submit”. If it does not allow you to continue, please repeat this step.

  5. Once your phone number is successfully verified you will see a confirmation table.

  6. Now, please go to website which requires CAS login and two-factor authentication, e.g. www.servicedesk.cuni.cz and log in.

  7. Click on "Other verification methods" and select "Verification via SMS message".

  8. Enter the text message code which you have received in the table.

This service is primarily intended for students and employees who are in the European Union. The delivery of text message codes cannot be guaranteed outside of the EU.
